this is a paper-slim slice of water hyacinth, Eichhornia spp., showcasing the impressive architecture of its floatation units. This plant is in the prime three, perhaps the #1, most invasive aquatic weed. They clog ships’ engines. 1% of Lake Victoria is covered in these. They can be manufactured into paper, rope, household furniture, animal feed, insulation (what I thought when I initial cut one open up), and many other factors. Wonderful plants.
